Teenagers are viewed as individuals who desire to break away from their dependence into a state of complete independence. Teenagers do not enjoy being treated like children who need guidance, and prefer to create their own path in life.
Is it true?
Yes. Teenagers want to be able to control their own lives. It is often that a teenager believes that they are wise enough and capable enough to take power over themselves and control their destiny. Desiring independence is a very well known trait of teenagers that rings with truth, for most teenagers like to believe they are already adults and resent when others try to control their decisions. Teenagers hold the belief that to discover their identity in the world, they must first abandon their dependence and become their own person. It is often that a teenager rebels just for this reason: to become independent and rid themselves of the forces controlling them. However, it is often that when a teenager does become independence, they realize that they were not truly ready for this change.
